Montezuma with mum

This past weekend my mom and I spent our time in a little town called Montezuma on the Pacific side. Besides the transportation issues we were having, it was on of the most relaxing weekends yet. The hotel was amazing, with beautifully hand crafted wood furniture, and hammocks hung between palm trees facing the beautiful ocean view.
A group of seagulls followed our ferry across as passengers threw food in the air at them.

What do ya think Mark? It was way cooler in person, and I didn't get it from the best angle.

Beautiful waterfall we hiked to.
Mom in the water.
View from one of the hammocks at our hotel.
Mum looking tired in front of a delicious breakfast.

A little bird that stole fruit right off the plate.

Formation throughout all the rock.

A little boy doing tricks. I actually felt really horrible for him, having to be the entertainment that raised money for the family...By the way he is juggling fire.
The mom doing her thing.

Getting home from Montezuma was a bit trickier than going. It only took 3 bus transitions and one ferry ride to go the 7 hours, though very worth it. The way back was a bit of a different story, due to the fact that the ferry workers were on strike. There was only one ferry crossing at all, and that was at Playa Naranja, which down here is a bit difficult to get to considering it is about an hour taxi ride down a bad dirt road, and there are not too many taxi drivers willing to go the distance. So mom and I started out pretty early to get home since I had to be in San Jose by 7 am the next day, no choice. Luckily a sequence of good strokes of luck got us home by around 9:30 pm, only a 12 hour trip and pretty early considering our situation.
A shell that a fellow that was in the same transportation situation as us had found on the beach.

On the barge around hour 9 of the trip home.
Shark spine bone.

Possibly my favorite photo of the trip.

My host parents

Nicole, Zoraida, Carlos and I at Volcan Poas. I figured I'd post a photo of them. But for reference, Carlos isn't that short, though he's not any taller than me, and Zoraida is wearing 2 inch thick soles. They're the best.

Volcan Poás

So my mom just flew down here and is staying for almost 2 weeks. So on the first full day she was here we went to Volcan Poás for the day, visiting as well it's lake, and a waterfall(La Paz I think). Good views for sure.

Up close to its' bank.
Sulfur spewing out? Mark can you help me out here...
Itty bitty flowers, as usual.

My mom and I. She's a little taller than me.
A little baby plant. These are some of my favorites in the jungle.

This is the view from on the way there and back. It was a spectacular view in person.

Lago de Poas

Next to the main vent was a lake that had been made by where a hole had been out of the side of the volcano, and eventually filled with water. The rest of the photos are just of the usual stuff I take pictures of. Boring to some, nice to others.

There's something about this one I really like.

La Paz?

Interesting...no need to get rid of the old bridge, just build right on top of it. I like the look of it though.

Tico Ultimate

So it was quite dark when I took this photo so it is rather grainy, but here are a few of the people I play Ultimate with every week. They are lot's of fun and contribute in the effort towards improving my spanish now and again. I even got another fellow to wear a skirt, though it was actaully a dress, and it was mine....
