Central Regionals

So after a little Ultimate in Rolla, MO this weekend, some of us headed on down to Tulsa to watch Central Regionals. It was great seeing some friends that don't live in Fayetteville and getting see some competitive play. Congratulations to Karl and his team who are headed to Nationals!

The quality of this photo is horrible, but I was standing all the way on the opposite end of the field and it was cloudy out. They scored right after this.

Spoon

Spoon played tonight at the Greek theatre on campus and it rocked pretty hard. The best part for sure was when it started pouring down rain and they played right through it. Water was splashing and flying off of the drum symbols and down towards the front row we were all getting drenched. Awesome.

What else is a girl to do when she hasn't had a table in hours?

Here are some photos from around the square while there was an Arkansas game and no one came to eat at Tims.

Rookie Ride

So Karls tournament in Tulsa actually turned out really great. SoCo took 2 teams with 9 girls on each, though admittedly 5 of the girls total don't play with SoCo, they just aided us in taking 2 teams rather than one. Both teams went 5-1, loosing only to each other. In the end team SoCo X beat team SoCo Y with a final score of 7 to 6. Needless to say SoCo won the tourny, placing first and second. We have some great rooks coming in, I'm stoked to get the season started.
Here we all are(both teams), in all of our glory.
Watching games after ours had ended and hungrily waiting for dinner.
3 of our rooks learning something new.

I'm glad I'm a vet these days.

Labor Day Weekend Trip to Michigan

For Labor Day Weekend this year my best option seemed to be to get on a plane and spend my time in Michigan. As posted previously, Josh lives right on lake Mitchell in Cadillac, and he invited up several of his Chicago friends for a 3 day long shindig.

Smores by the campfire.
For the weekend, the 12 of us split up into 2 teams and battled it out in the form of games. There was pool, ping pong, beer pong, darts, flippy cup, disc golf, cards, water ultimate and much much more. In the end, the Wet Burritos claim to have won, but everyone really knows that Algae Eaters were the true champions. This is a photo of my squad.

Slug or Caterpillar?

Right now I'm leaning more towards slug, but I'm really just not sure exactly what this little guy is.

Sleeping Bear Dunes

Last Friday while in Michigan after going to the Traverse City Cherry Festival, I was taken on up even farther north to the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes in Empire. They were gigantic(400 feet tall if I remember correctly) and after walking what might have been almost a mile up-hill in the sand, we came to a sign that told us Lake Michigan was still over a mile away. Needless to say it was getting dark so we did not continue our journey, but the view was worth what we ended up with.

Just starting, you can see the people are very far up there and they're only about half way up this first hill.

We finally came over one last dune to get a peak of the Lake before turning back.
A view from where we came from once we had gotten about half way up the first hill. You can see all the little tiny cars in the parking lot below.
After the first set of dunes we headed a little ways down the road to a small private beach to get in a quick dip before heading home.About to get into the chilly water, though it wasn't so cold compared to the temperature of the air.

Traverse City Cherry Festival

After Kayaking the other day while in Michigan I headed with Josh on up to Traverse City to the annual Cherry Festival. After catching a glimpse of a cherry pie eating contest we spotted a dog jumping contest that consumed the rest of our attention. Those dogs were amazing I tell you.

Keep your eye on the prize.
This one could jump like no other.
